Welcome

Gail's Cornucopia

Greetings To All

Greetings from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. It is May 31, 2008 as I write this. We have come through a very hard winter - lots of ice, snow and cold. I think everyone was glad to see the end - the question on people's minds was: "Where are we going to put more snow?" Eventually the snow did stop and the ice melted and Spring did arrive. We had some warm days at the start but then it was back to cooler weather for quite some time. I think now the weather is more like the Spring weather we are used to here in Peterborough. We have the usual dandelions, pests, weeds, and the grass and foliage look lovely and green. I have some photos of the snow around my house after a winter storm - I will get them added to Gallery when I get a chance. I picked a good time to start getting my driveway ploughed. I still do the rest of the shoveling myself.

If you allow Flash files to run on your computer, you will see a short Flash animation at the top of this page before the first paragraph. I call this little movie 'Seasons'. I have very recently discovered and purchased the program 'FantaMorph'. You can read about the program here.

I have wanted for a long time to have a personal web site. Why? I guess the answer is I enjoy a challenge and I wanted to learn more about the language of the web. I wanted to be able to write my pages using HTML (HyperText Markup Language) as opposed to relying on a program to do this for me. My big question was: "What will be the focus of the web site?" I am not an expert (nor close to it!) in any particular subject; thus the idea of different topics and therefore "Gail's Cornucopia".

I am now retired from nursing; obviously, the world of computers is one of my interests. My other interests include sports, music, and woodworking. I have kept the design of the site simple in keeping with my personality; I am a "plain Jane" type of person. I hope you enjoy looking through the pages on my web site and find some useful information along the way. If these pages give you some enjoyment for a few moments, then my effort has been worth it.

Gail
